How long have you been with onpeak?

I’ve been with onPeak for 1 year and 3 amazing months!

Describe what a typical workday looks like for you.

Working from home has been such a steadying factor in my life. It has helped me learn how to balance the things that I need to be healthy and happy. Since starting with onPeak, my typical day starts at 5:30am to work out with my friends at our favorite gym. Then I head home to feed the fur babies (4 black cats and 1 goofy pup). I am a Senior MAM to 70+ shows so the work hours are filled with different tasks to support the clients’ marketing needs. I am also concentrating on special projects in Salesforce & working on the new Client Email Menu with my coworkers. By 5pm you can catch me in the pool soaking up the Florida sunshine!

What movie would you use to describe the onPeak work culture?

Ocean’s 11 – Although we aren’t planning a large illegal money heist at onPeak, this movie showcases teamwork at its finest. To achieve their planned goal, all members of Danny Ocean’s team learned to value effective communication. The onPeak team moves like a well-oiled machine and even though we are scattered across the globe I feel connected to each one of you.

What aspects of onPeak motivate you?

I love that each of our clients and their respective shows are so unique. My work is never boring, and I am always learning something new. Also, our leadership is top tier. I feel valued and supported. It makes me want to do more and be more for onPeak.

If you had a YouTube channel, what would you talk about?

This is a loaded question because I have seriously considered creating a YouTube channel! I have a passion for Mid-Century design & architecture, but unfortunately not the budget for it. I have learned ways of achieving this look in my own home by thrifting, antiquing, garage sales, auctions, and a little DIY. I would love to share that on a YouTube channel someday but for now it just lives on my Instagram and TikTok!

How long have you been with onPeak?

I’ve been with onPeak for nine months.

What is your favorite onPeak memory?

So far, my favorite memories at onPeak have been my two onsite experiences. They were both amazing. It was awesome to be able to travel to different shows and conferences and meet so many different people.

What drew you to onPeak?

I’ve known about onPeak for a long time from working in the hospitality industry, but after my interview, I was immediately drawn to the culture. It’s a fun and relaxed team and there’s a great work-life balance.

What movie would you use to describe the onPeak work culture?

Although it’s a show not a movie, my mind goes to Emily in Paris on Netflix. The show heavily emphasizes embracing new experiences and working hard, while also still taking time for yourself outside of work. I feel like the onPeak culture adopted a perfect combination of work-life balance, where as an employee I love my job and it’s very important to me, and at the same time I’m able to have a meaningful life outside of it.

Tell us what made you recently laugh so hard, you cried?

Last time I laughed till I cried, I was probably at the Laugh Factory in Chicago watching standup comedy or watching funny animal videos on Tik Tok.

What Hogwarts house would you love to be in?  OR if you had a YouTube channel, what would you talk about?

If I had my own YouTube channel, I would talk about health and fitness — I love to work out and I’ve always had a passion for it so I think it would be fun to make videos about it. I would focus specifically on kick boxing / Muay Thai training.

In this employee spotlight edition, Rose Dubrovich, VP of Business Development, shares her perspective on the evolution of onPeak over the years.

At 23 years old, I arrived at 110 West Hubbard in Chicago and was the first employee for Travel Technology Group (or TTG), a new corporate travel agency. What a ride it has been.

I have had the pleasure of rising from receptionist to the Executive Vice President of Sales. I was there for the inception of Compass and had the pleasure of working and selling with some of the best people in the business.

Over the years, some of my great co-workers that I met along my first journey are still with the company. People like Jen Campanella, Brad Finkbeiner, John Hunt, Eric Twilegar, and Mindy Twilegar. TTG became one of the top housing providers in the industry. I still remember my first sale, The American Library Association (ALA). A man we still work with today, Paul Graller, read a brochure that I dropped off while cold calling, and called me to request a visit to our offices. At the end of my hour-long meeting, he said, “I’d love to work with your company. My two meetings are 60,000 room nights.” (If only they still were 😊). When I told my boss, he didn’t believe me, and was sure that I misheard Paul. My boss could not believe that I signed them up without a formal presentation. We still today serve ALA.

Not even 30 days later, Paul introduced me to National Restaurant Association (NRA), which would become my second account. Believe it or not, they had been doing all of their reservations in notebooks. The operations team almost fainted when Mary, Pat, and Laney gave us 120 notebooks to bring back to the office. That was the beginning of a relationship that we still have today (thankfully, no more notebooks)!

Since then, I have worked with many other organizations like HIMSS, IHA, ASCRS, AUA and have been blessed with life-long friends.

Around this same time, I began collaborating with GES, an industry partner that employed some of my favorite vendors and friends, such as Julie Smith, John Loveless, and Chuck Grouzard. Among the cherished traditions that I hold dear is the GES St. Patrick’s Day party, an event where I first met Jeff Quade, had the opportunity to participate in the parade, dye the river green, and dance the day away with so many great friends.

Still looking for Mr. Keith, when I turned 40, I accepted a position with Ambassadors in Atlanta to be the Senior Vice President of Sales, so I packed it up and moved. There, I had the pleasure of meeting Michele, Jane, Lisa, and Tiffany. Our office was in the Merchandise Mart in Atlanta, where we worked for Ambassadors, and we grew the company. And only my Atlanta family truly understands what a wild time this was.

The investment company who had purchased TTG while I was at Ambassadors, then purchased Ambassadors, and I wound up going back to my old home in Chicago and my new-found southern charm came with me to be the Senior Vice President of Sales with all of my old friends. Ambassadors and TTG became onPeak, where I ran into Kevin, Katie, Brian and both Jasons again.

In 2015, after onPeak became an award-winning company, and considered the most innovative in the marketplace, the company was bought by GES, and merged with Travel Planners. The unique story of Travel Planners and onPeak was that we were always competing against each other. I often saw Beth, Lisa and heard about Deb, Jaime, and Louise throughout my career, and now I have the pleasure of working with them every day.

All along the way, I’ve always wanted my home to be open to my dear friends and coworkers to have a cozy place to land while traveling. It’s been called, the “Rosie Ritz.”

I am still blessed to be working with all of my favorite people today. My words of wisdom to all of you would be this: this is an industry that you have to have a hard passion for and is a very small world. Never burn a bridge, always be kind to your vendor partners and your competitors, because you never know who will wind up being your great friends and co-workers in life.

Can you describe what a typical workday looks like for you?

Start with coffee and checking emails from exhibitors, guests, & fellow onPeakers. Browse & complete Basecamp, Teams, Fogbugz, make more coffee…repeat process for 8 hours 🙂

What drew you to onPeak?

Honest answer, a friend. She told me how much she loved the company, and the rockstar management and people she worked with. I gave it a shot and, guess what, she was right!

How do you balance stressful days?

I find on my stressful days it’s important that I get outside, walking away and taking a breather will instantly reset my day.

What is your definition of success?

Success for me is one word, happiness. Happiness in a job, relationship, with yourself. When I feel pure happiness that’s when I feel that I have succeeded.

What are you currently binge watching?

Well now that House of the Dragon is over (sad face) my husband and I have started binging The Boys on Amazon Prime and New Girl on Netflix. I also may have Daniel Tigers Neighborhood on my TV at all times for my one year old if you consider that binging (lol)

How would you describe your team?

Smart, easy-going, hard-working, fun, supportive.

What’s the best part about working for onPeak?

I have really enjoyed the engaging work, the many opportunities to learn and improve my skills, and the phenomenal support I receive from my colleagues.

Do you have a favorite podcast?

Can’t say I have a favorite.  What I listen to depends on what I’m looking for.  True Crime podcasts are always good for long road trips.  The podcast that I’ve probably listened to the most, however, is Tim Ferris’ podcast.

In a battle to the death – Han Solo or Indiana Jones?

It’s been ages since I’ve watched anything with either, but hands down, Han Solo.  Blaster pistol beats bullwhip ten times out of ten.
